The Jane Austen Festival

The Bath Jane Austen Festival has grown to be the largest and longest running J A Festival in the world, with over 3500 people taking part in events, balls and soirees across the centre of town - many in the very buildings that Jane herself would still recognise. The Roman Baths

Situated The Romans were the first to make a tourist attraction of the hot bubbling springs found in a bend of the Avon River, and for some 2000 years visitors have been enjoying the health enhancing benefits. There is now a well laid out museum brimming with facts that young and old will enjoy as your are guided past the well preserved remains of the baths and a Temple to Minerva, most of which have only be rediscovered in the past century. Absolutely worth a visit!

The Holburne Museum

The core collection includes a fascinating range of 17th and 18th century silver and porcelain, Italian maiolica and bronzes, old master paintings, portrait miniatures, furniture and a variety of smaller items including Roman glass, coins, enamels, seals, gems and snuff boxes. The collections are open without charge, and there is an excellent restaurant on the ground floor leading out into Sydney Gardens - well worth a visit, and so very convenient to Sir Walter Elliots!
